Country superstar Niko Moon has recently been very open about his past struggles with mental health and addiction (alcohol), and as the new year is here, so is the launch of his Happy Cowboy Foundation!
Co-founded also in part with his wife Anna Moon, the nonprofit’s mission and goals are to help raise awareness and funds to help others who may be battling addiction and mental health but can’t afford the resources or therapy to take that next step in bettering themselves.
With the launch of the new foundation also comes the launch of Moon’s new album entitled BETTER DAYS, which has its lead single by the same name. The song speaks to the mission of the foundation, and how Moon hopes his music and help can save lives; He has noted that profits from streams of the new song on January 19th will go directly towards the Happy Cowboy Foundation.
Moon sat down with us for a little Q&A to dive deeper into his plans ahead with all things…

2024 seems to be your year of launching things! New album, new tour and a new non-profit. Tell us more about why you felt this year was the right time to start putting all new things out?
Honestly, it’s been the birth of my daughter that has lit this fire in me. I know that she’s gonna be looking at me so many times in life and I want to make sure that I’m giving it 100% so that she’s encouraged to do the same.
Tell us about why it was important to you to create and launch The Happy Cowboy Foundation?
I’ve dealt with anxiety and depression since my teenage years and it’s a part of a lot of people’s lives. Countless people out there are going through something difficult and need to speak to someone about it and that’s where HCF comes in.
Who are some of the other members or partners for the foundation and how did they get involved with what you are doing?
To Write Love On Her Arms, The Headstrong Project and NAMI are just some of the amazing organizations that we support! We look high and low for the best non-profit organizations out there that provide mental health care. Our goal is to provide funds to these amazing organizations while navigating our incredible community to the place that’s best suited to their needs.
How do you continue to stay positive each day, even though as one of your upcoming tracks notes, we are going through “Strange Times”?
Positivity is a choice not a feeling. Just like hitting the gym, for me it’s all about setting the tone first thing in the morning. Also, doing positive work in my life and surrounding myself with positive people are vital to my mental well being.
Tell us about your album’s lead track BETTER DAYS and advice to others who may not be able to clearly see “Better Days” ahead for themselves?
Better Days is all about keeping the faith in hard times, that better days are ahead. I’ve donated all the streaming revenue to the HCF so every time someone hears the song, they’ve donated and helped someone find happiness again.
How can people donate or be a part of the Happy Cowboy Foundation coming up?
Check out happycowboyfoundation.org to donate or to find a plethora or resources. We launch on Jan 19, 2024!
And finally, what does it mean to you to be the definition of “Good”?
Great question, to treat people the way I’d like to be treated
